Definition: blognoscenti
Noun. People who feel they have (or who are assumed by others to have) superior knowledge and understanding of a particular field — especially in technology, sports, movies, music, literature, pop culture, and the like — primarily because they blog about these topics.
Blognoscenti is the 2010 project of Greig Orrell, owner and MD of WebAntics.co.za – one of South Africa’s leading E-Commerce Stores that sells thousands of electronics, gadgets, and like-minded goodies. Blognoscenti is a blog dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing new (and current) electronic gadgetry that I come into contact with and even some that I tend to only dream about. In addition, we will also throw in a generous helping in the ‘bits and pieces’ section on news worthy items and “how-to” and where-to’s and anything else that we hear, speak, or see-about.
I count myself very lucky some days that I get to work in an industry that I enjoy and that is also my passion and that I get to hear about things months before they hit South African shores. That is a genuine advantage in the electronic age we live in. My wife would disagree and constantly reminds so by bringing up old case law (Wife v Husband (2008), para 112, ‘Which blu-ray player to buy?’ or Wife v Husband (2010), para 44, ‘Which TV? LED or LCD’). It is a habit I agree…the need to search out that piece of electronic innovation that changes who you are and how you do it and how often you do it. “Isn’t the search for the right puzzle-piece what life is all about”, I protested! “Isn’t seeking out the key to a problem programmed into a man’s primal instinct?” My wife says “No”.
